Professional Experience

Lead Integrations Technical Communicator

December 2020-May 2025

nCino, Inc.

nCino, Inc. is a global financial technology company that offers cloud-based banking software and core banking platform for financial institutions.

Winner of 2024 nCino Hackathon with teammates Shannon and Kate (not pictured, Derrin).
Matt presents at Innovation Friday
Volunteer Day at RiseUp Farms in Wilmington, NC.

At nCino, I excelled in AI implementation, clear and concise technical documentation, project management, and leadership roles.

AI Implementation:

  • Trained AI agents and mentored peers to train their own. These agents reduced work time by an average of 4 hours per task.

  • Successfully implemented AI-Salesforce workflow projects that reduced working time for multiple roles from 8-16 hours to less than 30 minutes.

  • Scripted a Python tool via AI prompt to assist with training agents and eliminated a blocker as well as an additional cost.

  • Established Claude integration with Atlassian Jira projects to reduce task management time for multiple Jira projects.

  • Won a Hackathon award for a chatGPT RAG/ArcBrowser extension,  "GatorGuide," a writing assistant and company glossary.

Technical Documentation:

  • Lead API product documentation and UI copy for 10+ products, 5 teams, and 2 other writers for engaging monthly releases. This includes:

    • Getting started, configuration, and user guides, release notes, and supplemental reference guides.

  • Updated and maintained our company style guide, and implemented these standards:

    • Designed document templates and document diagrams to reduce implementation time by an average of 2 hours, and to strive for clarity, concision, and simplicity.

    • Established documentation vaults in project spaces for efficient team collaboration and knowledge access.

    • Collaborated with our Support team to gather feedback and keep existing documentation relevant.

Project Management:

  • Directed the AI initiative in the Technical Communications department, implementing AI and automation solutions to save the department and other company roles hours of work time.

  • Instructor and course designer for the nCino Communication Certification, a quarterly certification that focused on refreshing professional writing skills, how to write for a global audience and translation, how to increase comprehension, basic AI prompting, and the importance of peer review skills with AI drafts.

  • Managed a cross-department collaboration project with customer support to gather feedback and address issues within documentation, as well as create solutions with documentation, and brainstorm new formats to streamline troubleshooting cases.

  • Regularly organized volunteer activities in the community for the Technical Communications department.

Leadership Roles:

  • As the Lead Integrations Technical Communicator, I was first point of contact for all documentation-related integrations issues, requests, or questions. Using my knowledge of our integrations products and my team, I either executed these tasks, found answers I did not have, or informed the appropriate writer of the question or task, and deadline.

  • As a volunteer pilot user for the topic-based authoring system Paligo, I educated myself on the inner configuration, best practices, and shortcuts to mentor my team to achieve efficient adoption in 3 weeks.

  • Designed and delivered onboarding epics to interns for hands-on deadline work in real-time and required the use of multiple tools and platforms to familiarize themselves with our products and processes.

  • Produced and delivered presentation to teams, "How to work with your Technical Communicator," focused on efficient communication between members, accurate and sufficient data tracking in Jira system, explanation of document types and audience, and the encouragement of using AI in this process.
